Wadifa – Iraq’s Job Platform (2012)
In 2012, we developed Wadifa, one of Iraq’s pioneering online job platforms, aimed at bridging the gap between job seekers and employers in a rapidly changing labor market. The vision was to create a trusted, accessible, and easy-to-use platform that could help reduce unemployment and connect talent with opportunities across Iraq.
We began by conducting research into the hiring challenges faced by both employers and candidates, identifying the need for a bilingual, mobile-friendly platform that catered to Iraq’s diverse population. The platform was designed to support both Arabic and Kurdish, ensuring maximum inclusivity and outreach.
The user interface was kept clean and straightforward, enabling job seekers to quickly create profiles, upload CVs, and browse opportunities by category, location, and industry. Employers were provided with tools to post vacancies, review applications, and communicate directly with shortlisted candidates.
Technically, Wadifa was built on a robust, scalable framework capable of handling high volumes of concurrent users. We integrated features such as email notifications for new job postings, keyword-based search filters, and secure user account management. SEO optimization and social media integration were implemented to increase visibility and attract both local and diaspora audiences.
Launched with a targeted marketing campaign, Wadifa quickly gained recognition for its role in promoting employment. It was later acknowledged by the Kurdistan Regional Government for its contribution to the job market, becoming a go-to platform for recruitment in the region.
The result was more than just a website—it was a practical tool for economic empowerment, giving thousands of Iraqis a platform to find work and improve their livelihoods.
